I'm Coming Home

Momma I'm coming home,

not the way you want me to,

but don't be sad Momma,

I did what I had to do...

I thought about you and Dad,

Every single day,

while I was leaving,

and while I was away...

My girlfriend sobbed as I left,

she was sad and I know she missed me,

I wrote to all of you as often as I could,

from the letters I know you will agree...

But the next time you see me,

I really won't be the same,

it won't be how you remember me,

war can be hell; but you won't be ashamed...

The box they put me in,

may not be the one you chose,

but don't fret Momma,

I am here and you aren't alone...

Dedicated to all the troops who preserve our freedom, and paid the price.

I was very emotional when I wrote this...
